Christmas Memories with Marcus Paint Company

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from Marcus Paint Company! We hope you have a wonderful time with friends and family and get the chance to enjoy old traditions and create new memories! We did some reflection this year and wanted to share some of our favorite memories and traditions as a company, it is our hope that it helps you reflect on your own and might even help spark something new.

  1. RM- Attending Christmas Eve Mass with my family at St. Michael’s Church in Greenville Pennsylvania.
  2. AB – Every year I go to my in-laws for Christmas, and over the three to four days we are in town. The entire family works on and completes a 1000-piece Christmas-themed puzzle every year.
  3. JJ – We had some normal traditions of getting a tree and decorating it with some of the ornaments we made in years past. Then I remembered my uncle had a Christmas tree farm for some of those years and we would go up to his property and pick out a tree there and dad would cut it down, load it up, and bring it home and all that stuff. Those are some good memories, but in recent years I have enjoyed the celebrations with my work family even more. This also makes me want to start new and carry on old traditions with my wife and three kids so they can look back when they get older and have this same fondness.
  4. KC – I always enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree.  There always seemed to be snow on the ground in December and we would bundle up and go to the shed to get all the boxes marked for Christmas.  We had a small 4’ artificial tree that would sit on top of a coffee table so that it would be “tall”.  Dad would put it together fluff the limbs, add lights, and the garland.  Justin and I would help with the ornaments and Mom always put on the icicles once we were done. Dad would finish it by putting the angel on top.   Mom oversaw making the homemade cocoa while we were decorating the tree, and she would start getting wreaths, ribbons, lights, and garland ready for the porch and the outside light in our front yard.  My dad made a manger out of wood from the farm my mom grew up on.  It was delicate but once Dad had it under the tree we would put Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus, the shepherds, angels, and animals in place.  If we were lucky enough to have enough snow… we were off to build a snowman.
  5. NM – Getting together and spending time with Friends that I consider family.
  6. HM – My wife and I started a tradition last year where we go to Target with each other’s stockings, and we have 15 minutes to fill it up with what we think the other would like. We do the same thing for our pet’s stockings, then come home and open everything by the fire and watch Christmas movies. It’s not much but the holidays have been hard for me the past few years so starting a new tradition with her has made this time of year lighter and easier to look forward to.
  7. TM – One of my favorite memories of Christmas morning is from when I was a child. My grandpa would always come over in the mornings and we would open presents and hang out by the fire and talk about Christmas’s pasts. Mom would always make a breakfast casserole and we would sit around the table and laugh and spend time together.
  8. TS – My favorite Christmas memory is Christmas of 2022 I got engaged in Vail, Colorado! One of the prettiest places to be during winter. It was well below 0°F for the whole trip but we had fun anyway doing all the winter/snow activities. It snowed ~ a foot a day while we were there. We even built a huge igloo out of the snow that had been shoveled off a road. We can’t wait to go back for another Christmas!
  9. SM – I remember receiving a Go Cart for Christmas when I was 10. My dad had bought a used, beat-up frame and rebuilt it from scratch for me. We used to have a giant paint booth at the paint company, and he repainted it and put it all back together. My sister distracted me Christmas morning and my Dad and Brother carried it into the house for me to come back to the surprise.
  10. FL – My family’s biggest tradition is spending time together. We gather at my mother’s home, and there is lots of food, fun, and Laughter. We have had a tradition for many years of a Gag Gift. This gift has been given to an unexpected family member for over 30 years. The gift is a skeleton of a possum that was found beneath the barn of my parent’s Place.  The tradition goes as you would normally hide it, and then it is your Job the next year to bring it back and regift it to the next unassuming member of the family. It is more of the silly fun and the reaction of whom it is given to. Kind of just good lighthearted fun. May God bless all for a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
  11. JG – Every year we get together at my parent’s house, and we have a huge Christmas dinner. Ham, Turkey, dressing, and all the fixings. After dinner, we typically have our Christmas together. Every year Dad always watches his old Western movies afterward
  12.  TM- Late 70’s – 80’s . Holiday parties with local customers 70’s & 80’s (commercial customers) Mr. Payne. Always wanted a side dish of country Ham Salad. The parties seemed to go all day, and the card games always started after dark. People and companies always used to spend a lot of time together and forge some long-lasting partnerships and friendships.

Many people love to celebrate the holidays, and for others, it is a difficult time. Please remember that going into the holidays with friends and Family alike. Love one another, love thy neighbor, and be kind this holiday season. The world could use more kind in it. Be safe, and we look forward to working with you in 2025!
